Updates

GLASS checks for a newer build once per launch, and lets you choose when to install.

When an update is available, an emerald banner at the top of the window names the new version and offers Install and restart or Later. GLASS never restarts without asking. Later hides the banner until the next time GLASS starts.

If your document has unsaved changes, Install and restart asks first:

• Save and restart saves your document, then installs the update.
• Restart without saving installs the update, and your changes are waiting in the Recovered section on Home afterwards.
• Cancel keeps you working. The banner then reads Update ready, so installing later doesn't download it again.

Every update is signature-verified before it installs. If GLASS can't reach the update server, for example because you're offline, it says nothing. If an update fails, the banner says which step failed. A download problem offers Retry. An update that fails its security check isn't installed, nothing on your computer changes, and the banner offers Get it from nodinwrite.com.

The first time a new version starts, a banner says GLASS was updated to that version, once, with See what’s new, which opens the release notes.
