The Draft workspace

This is the one screen you'll spend the most time in. GLASS has a minimal, clean, and modern design, with the ability to customize the toolbar's behavior for writers who don't want to stare at it while they're trying to focus on writing.

  • Chrome row (top): the leaf logo (Home button), the menu bar, your document's name, the Mode Switcher, and a settings cog.
  • Format ribbon (below it): undo/redo, paragraph styles, font pickers, marks, alignment, lists, and indent.
  • The page (center): a true-white sheet on a neutral gray surround, so paper reads as paper.
  • Edge tabs (left and right): slide-out drawers for Contents, Productivity, and planning notes.
  • Status bar (bottom): live word count, Page X of Y, and the autosave time.

Note

By default the toolbar stays pinned. You can set it to slide away while you type. See Toolbar behavior.

Note

On macOS the menu bar isn't in the chrome row; it's the real menu bar at the top of your screen, where every Mac app keeps it. The window's traffic lights sit in the chrome row instead. Everywhere this guide says something like File ▸ Save As, look there. See Windows & macOS.
